The Nugget - My Two Cents

The Nugget is a combination couch/toy/fort/tower/bed.

We got ours a year ago and use it on the DAILY.

Here is my take on this little treasure….

#1 We Use it a TON

So far we have used our Nugget for: reading, building ‘robots’, a slide, a ramp for race cars, movie nights, as a base for family Christmas photos, forts, walls for indoor snowballs fights and as a stepladder for my kids to reach things I don’t want them to touch.

My kids were 1 and 2 when we got the nugget - I’m banking on the above list growing as their imaginations develop.

#2 I Use it Too

On mornings when I wake up before the kids for a hot bevie and ten minutes alone, I almost ALWAYS land on the Nugget.

There’s just SOMETHING about it!

(Keep in mind I’m short so this one might not ring true if you’re 6’2)

#3 It’s Firm Enough to Hold a Cup of Coffee

Reading 25 kid books in a row requires coffee. The Nugget is firm enough to hold my mug without spills.

Yes this point required its own heading.

#4 It’s a Feel-Good Purchase

It’s a cool company that does cool things. Check out their website or Instagram @nuggetcomfort to see what I’m talking about. The ‘cool things’ include paying all employees a living wage and donating a portion of their profits.

#5 The Colour Options are Adorable

Ours is grey (I love me a good neutral). But if you’re into colour…oh myyy! The Bamboo Moss looks amaaaazing.

#6 It’s Portable

A change of scenery is often the best antidote to being at home with young kids. You can easily move the Nugget from room to room and instantly create a new play or rest zone throughout the house.

#7 It Cleans Up

We usually just do spot cleaning but have tossed the covers in the wash (how do kids always manage to find the only marker in the entire house??!) – they always comes up looking great. After a year of constant use, ours still looks brand new.

*we don’t have pets so I can’t speak to pet hair*

Ok so obviously I love our nugget. Buuuutttt nothing is perfect. Nugget included.

There are three caveats I need to mention:

#1 It’s Expensive

It is the most expensive piece of furniture in our home… (maybe that’s just a sign that we need better furniture)…either way – if you can’t afford it, don’t buy it. It is not a necessity to being an awesome mom and your kids will still learn to jump and climb and build without it.

#2 They will Still Jump on the Couch

When I ordered the Nugget our kids spent 90% of their waking hours jumping on our couches and I was desperate to do whatever I could to save our cushions. The Nugget now takes most of the abuse however the kids still do a TON of couch hoping.

Only plausible solution: sell our couches and replace all of them with Nuggets.

I’m considering it.

#3 You need Space

If you barely have room for your existing furniture you may want to pull out the measuring tape before you purchase. It does pile up nicely in a corner but it’s way easier to enjoy when you have ample space.

Some of the best things in life have a certain ‘je ne sais quoi’.

The Nugget is definitely one those things.

It’s hard to explain but somehow this little couch has become the heart of our home. I can’t imagine our days without it.
